Golliwog quilt

Several years ago I bought a patchwork ‘block of the month’ pattern for a quilt.  ‘Block of the month’ quilt  patterns are quite popular amongst the patchwork and quilting community.  Well I bought one about golliwogs.  Golliwogs were an important memory of my childhood.  Since the grandboys arrived I’ve collected the Noddy books.  We have some here. Others are at their place.  My sister-in-law also bought me a Noddy that sticks on the window in the car when she went to England several years ago.  Much loved Noddy helps the boys to find Nana’s car in the shopping carpark.  I guess I wanted to create something of my childhood memories for the grandboys.

The picture above is the quilt.  It is all appliquéd which means that each piece is sewn on individually.  So the news boy at the bottom of the picture below has about 20 pieces to make him. Am I mad, or what.

The above picture shows what I have done.  No much.  It seems that I only work on the quilt while on a cruise with lots of time to myself.  So I have three months of appliqué to prepare and place on the quilt before we leave in a couple of weeks.

The above picture shows only one month.  So there is a bit of work to complete between working, looking after the grand boys and general everyday chores.

Our faithful D isn’t far away.

After we return from the cruise I will include some photos from the South Pacific Islands and I’ll show you my progress on the quilt.

Blessings

Art with Heart Team Blog

Tonight the Art with Heart team girls are sharing some creative projects by adding texture with embossing. Embossing can add a lovely dimension, and with our wonderful Stampin’ Up! products, we can create many different looks. These include Heat embossing using embossing powder, dry embossing using our textured folders or by adding embossing paste

I have been having fun during the last few weeks making Christmas cards.  So when I decided to take part in this Blog Hop, a Christmas card was the obvious choice.  However I wanted to stretch my skills.  I found inspiration from Pinterest and YouTube.  I am thrilled with my results.  Still need more  perfecting but a new skill
none the less.

This Christmas card was created using Night in Bethlehem Stamp
Set, Bethlehem Edgelits Dies, Crumb Cake, Early Expresso and Whisper White Cardstock.  I used Crumb Cake  and Early Expresso
Stamp Pads.  For the first time I used the Heat Tool, Stampin’ Up Embossing Powder, (Clear) and Embossing Buddy.  I had a great
time learning this new skill, and I am very pleased with my card.  I
hope you enjoy this card as much as I’ve enjoyed learning this new skill.

Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the very talented,  Rachel Palmieri

Cardmaking weekend

When someone cooks a lot of meals in one day, people refer to ‘cooking up a storm.’  Well this weekend we created a storm of cards.

My husband was away all weekend with his club’s woodworking exhibition.  Our daughter and daughter-in-law visited and created lots of Christmas cards.   Today our daughter-in -law returned with her boys and created more.

Every year our daughter and daughter-in-law place a date in our dairies for several days to create our Christmas card supply for the coming season.  This is our last for 2017 Christmas.

The picture shows the chaos that reigned over the kitchen table today.  Two grandson also wanted to get into the act.  Master T also created his uncle's birthday card, with a little assistance from Mum, however the idea was his.

Adelaide trip

Hi everyone
Our daughter and I had a lovely time in Adelaide. We enjoy quality mother/daughter time whilst driving to and from Adelaide.  Our daughter is pregnant so questions asked brought back memories of my own pregnancies.

We stayed on the 17th floor of the Stamoford Hotel in the centre of the city.  Something was happening at the footy oval our first night.  It stands out in our night photos.

We walked along the Torrens River

On the way home, we drove through Coonalpyn and saw the silos that were painted.

Most importantly though, Master V received his quilt.  It is an I Spy quilt that consisted of all things with wheels.  So there are cars, buses, fire engines, trucks, caravans, planes only to name a few. I quilted it with two circles inside  one another, which looked like a wheel.  Our dog, Dash, likes to try the quilt out first. He only has his head on it in this photo, usually it is his whole body,

Here the quilt is proudly placed on Master V’s bed.  I think he loves it.

We are home again now.  The girls are coming over on the weekend for a day of Christmas card making.  So I must make a few examples.

Blessings

Fresh Florall Designer Series Paper

Hi everyone,

Here in Victoria, we have a long weekend. Our daughter and I are driving to Adelaide and spending an extended long weekend with my parents.  I have been frantic trying to finish a quilt for my brother and sister in law.  However that didn’t happen.  At the moment I want to burn the thing.  However I am taking a quilt over for our great step-nephew.  I will place the photo on next weeks blog, after gifting the quilt.

During the last week I have played around with the Fresh Floral  Designer Series Paper.   I loved the Floral Boutique from last year.  This year we have the same paper but in 5 different colours that go with, Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink, Tranquil Tide and Whisper White
Cardstock.

Here are some photos using the Eastern Medallions Thinkits:

Here is a video showing you another of these wonderful papers.
